Lately, my old neighbour had a bad day
Got up to feed the dog but found it passed away
On the kitchen floor
He told me at my door
Said it's OK
We all have bad days sometimeThe statue in the museum had a bad day
Held the pose but no one thought it worth to pay
The entrance fee
She cried silently
But it's OK
We all have bad days sometimeMe, myself and I, we had a bad day
Could not agree which walk to take along the lake
Been only hanging around
Now the sun's gone down
But it's OK
We all have bad days sometimeSometimes, I'm just not
In the mood to get up
The whole day it stays the same
Outside it's pouring with rain
Don't want my feet to get wet
I'd rather stay in bed
It is joy, it is bliss
I bet there's nothing I missThe next time that you have a bad day
Should not stay inside, just do it anyway
Put some good music on
You are not the only one
And it's OK
We all have bad days sometime -
There'll be a time when it all falls apart
The pictures that you've made of yourself from the start
When the world so vigorously kicks in the door
Grabs you by your head and throws you to the floor
The truth reveals its secrets
Anytime you dare to hear it
You will knowOf course, your mother told you to be good to all
There was warm applause when you began to crawl
Yet the roller coaster scares you and the river, too
There's an unfamiliar smell in everything that's new
Makes you get up in the morning
Overhear the loudest warning
And go onI don't know how I came here and I don't know how to go
I burn my fingers twice in every afterglow
Yet I know there's something calling it'll take me far from here
If I surrender whole I'll overcome all fear
So when it comes down on me
I won't be shaking saying: If only
I could love -
I flew into town to gather my remains
And go back to the places where you took my breath away
Only hope in my bag and out of the plane
Down the stairs into another rainy English dayYou said you'd wait outside the gate
You were not there, I thought she's late
Better wait for her and stayI must have forgotten how fate plays its game
I could not find your face within the crowd that came my way
After a while I stepped out into the rain
The city and its streets were all still perfectly the sameThe one who opened up your door
Told me you left the day before
And that you went on holidays in SpainCynicism hits you in your weakest times
And while others sing in rhymes
I just keep staring at the floorWhere all past lovers queue up in an endless line
Once I was sure that you were mine
Now I'm certain I'm not gonna see you anymoreI wish I had a rope like an astronaut in space
Surrounded by dead air, there is no sound, there is no taste
And I remember what Didi and Gogo would say:
'If there is really nothing it won't ever go away.' -
I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger
Traveling through this world below
There is no sickness, no toil, no danger
In that bright land to which I go
I'm going there to see my father
And all my loved ones who've gone onI'm just going over Jordan
I'm just going over homeI know dark clouds will gather 'round me
I know my way is hard and steep
But beauteous fields arise before me
Where God's redeemed, their vigils keep
I'm going there to see my mother
She said she'd meet me when I comeSo I'm just going over Jordan
I'm just going over home
I'm just going over Jordan
I'm just going over home -

I saw a girl in the modern art museum
In the first room when I came in through the door
The paintings featured every shade of neon
But I was captured by her beauty so much moreAll dressed in black, her pale face looked so pretty
I could tell she was the intellectual kind
We looked at models for some futuristic city
But to talk to her was all I had in mindI felt the blood rush to my head
I found my belly full of lead
I couldn’t move, my feet glued to the ground
With a girl like this around
My world turns upside down
And inside outI had my words lined up in fully fledged perfection
I was ready for some high-brow commentary
When she turned around and came in my direction
Started talking to the guy right next to meAnd of course, I overheard their conversation
And I found out she was doing her BA
And that they shared a common admiration
For the artist and the works up on displayAnd I could tell they come here all the time
With their cards that let them pass the line
And I’m glad I didn’t start to talk
And told her what I thought
Was something very smart
'Cause it was notI left them talking Damian Hirst and ratings
Walked upstairs to sit in the cafe
And the waitress came and asked me about the paintings
But there was nothing, really nothing I could sayMaybe that art hides behind some mysterious curtain
Maybe I’m the only one who’s blind
But here’s the one thing that I know for certain
Modern art just messes up
Yeah, modern art just messes up
My mind -
Gizeh and the Valley Of Kings
In the burning sun
Steps resounding from the hills
There's a man on the runPeople gathered on the streets
Five weeks in a row
Their voices strong, the power of the weak
And they just wouldn't goPharaoh, your land is up in flames
And you're only watching from afar with a glass of Champagne
As if you don't know you're getting covered in shame
Don't you have any pride at all that your smile is still the same? The pyramids were made of stone
They've seen it before
Old leaders getting pushed off their throne
You're just one moreYou had it all, your face on every wall
And you never bore in mind that any rise implies a fall
You never thought you could ever be caught
With your friends all by your side, well, now they're all goneBoats were coming down the Nile
A thousand years ago, Pharaoh
People here don't need you around
Mister so-and-so, Pharaoh
Just go! -
I'm gonna start a walk today
I'll walk and walk and walk and walk forever
I'll leave without my keys just down the road
which goes to where the sun is heading
Just out this foggy town
The sullen world aroundI tell the ones I meet out in the street
to kindly greet the ones I'm leaving
And the sculpture on the square reminds me
I don't share what we're all meant to believe in
But this is nothing new
It's the same for me and youI'm westbound
I'm not looking for a land that's yet unfound
I'm westbound
I only need to feel my hurried feet on the groundThose made-up girls their golden tan
they plan to find a man while they're still pretty
I just get bored, now that's for sure
while I pass the last corners of the city
Now the view is clear
And I am out of hereI rest beneath the buzzing trees
where busy bees will please the one who listens
The air's so clean out in the green
though I still see chimneys smoke out in the distance
I see their blinking lights
Through the darkest nightsI'm westbound
I'm not looking for a land that's yet unfound
I'm westbound
I only need to feel my hurried feet on the groundI pass a hundred towns where love is found
then lost then found then lost then found again
For some it is no thing they dance and sing
from early spring until the summer's end
But who can open their
Hearts everywhereI wonder is it fate what I forsake
makes me go straight in one direction
This walk in ragged shoes gives me the blues
I think I'm losing my protection
Until I'm stripped down to the bone
And it's me and me aloneI'm westbound
I'm not looking for a land that's yet unfound
I'm westbound
I only need to feel my hurried feet on the groundWhen this land turns into sand I cannot stop
and end up knee-deep in the ocean
I crawl back to the shore soaked to the core
though my poor spirit's still in motion
Along the beach I creep
Until I fall asleepI dream I had a keel with proper seal
and a good feel for navigation
But we know those who've tried they all have died
out in high tide or from starvation
Humans can be fools
But nature sets the rulesI'm westbound
I'm not looking for a land that's yet unfound
I'm westbound
I only need to feel my hurried feet on the ground -
Right now I can't talk it through
It takes some time, you know
I hope you understand like you always do
Later on I'll talk a little more
How is your life going on?
Are you still writing songs?
Or are you strolling along
With the madness
Suspended high above your head
Walking like a living dead
Old friend, it's coming down again one dayI heard you found a wife, heard she's good to you
Indeed, you tell me that you're doing well
Working for supplies, the kids are happy, too
I'm glad you talk and I don't have to tell
All those stories of the past
Trying to make the good times last
Oh, the years go by so fast
And without warning
You slip away into routine
You're in such a different scene
Old friend, don't you know this came to stay?We used to share everything we knew
We were each other's closest friends
And I didn't really care if what you said was true
But these days it is harder to pretend
Now you're standing here and talk
About the weather, about the fog
About the nature of the cogs
And how they're turning
I gotta leave, I gotta try
I gotta find some alibi
Old friend, I think there's nothing left to say
